Here we are at the 18th instalment of the Pictures of the Week feature. Lots has been going on this past week making it hard to pick just a few but as always we’ve highlighted 5 of our favourites…

It was the summer solstice on the 21st June and revellers gathered to celebrate the arrival of summer and the longest day of the year. We really love this genuine in the moment shot that captures the passion and emotion of the whole event. The shallow depth of field really brings your focus in and makes you feel connected to the image.

We’ve been flooded with images from the World Cup but we had to include this action shot of Captain Kane scoring one of the many goals against Panama on Sunday. Photographing moving subjects and capturing action is a great way to test your photography skills and the World Cup is definitely not short of action.

Great underwater photography is hard to master at the best of times but throw in a diving Booby and you’ve really got yourself a challenge. This photographer has nailed this shot using a different perspective for added drama. For me the fact that its a wildlife image is also an added bonus.

For me this image sums up what summer is all about, long warm nights with a cool beer in hand. On the face of it, its a fairly simple shot but the effortless authenticity really makes it amazing.

I’ve mentioned summer a fair few times already in this blog but to be honest it’s the best season and I’m excited. All the colours in this image really marry together to create a real summery vibe and Russet orange is a Pantone colour trend for 2018 so adding a pop of this colour to your images will make them bang on trend.
If 5 images aren’t enough you can view a bunch of great images submitted in the last week here. Motivated to get uploading this week? If you submit any images you think would be perfect candidates for our next ‘Pictures of the Week’ post, tweet the image refs to @AlamyContent with the hashtag #AlamyPOTW and we’ll consider them for the feature.
