Licensing stock images with Alamy

The image licensing and pricing on Alamy.com is a little bit different to some other stock photo sites you might have used. As well as selling traditional royalty-free imagery, we also license rights-managed imagery, and we have our own simple price packages. The great thing about buying images from ڹϳis that it’s completely hassle free – there are no subscriptions, no credits and you don’t even need to register before you check out.

So, what do you need to know before you buy?

1. Understand what license type is right for you

  • With a royalty-free (RF) imagethe amount youpaydepends on the file size you need, andyou can use the image however you want, as many times as you like.
  • With a rights-managed (RM) image you can buy a licence that’s tailored exactly to your needs.
  • Use our price packages to buy our most popular licences, available at the click of a button. You only pay for what you need – at an affordable price.

2. How do you find the right licence

Each image can only be sold under one licence type, so it will either be marked as RF or RM. Once you’ve decided what type of licence is right for you, use our search tools to filter down your search results. If you plan to buy from our popular price packages they’re available on all images.

3. Think about how you’re going to use the image to calculate the price

If you’re buying an RF image you need to think about what file size you need. The bigger the file size the more expensive it will be. Read our blog to find out more about choosing the right file size for your project.

If you’re buying an RM image you will need to use the price calculator to determine the price. You will need to know details such as size, print run, placement etc. Explore our price calculator by visiting an RM image page and clicking on “or choose another rights-managed license”

4. Getting a discount

If you’re planning on buying more than one image then get in touch with our customer service team. They will be able to help you out with bulk prices and licences.

We also have coupon codes on offer – you can get 50% off for signing up to our marketing emails, or check out voucher code sites for our latest discounts.
