With over 70 thousand active ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏcontributors and hundreds more registering each day you can imagine the sheer volume of questions we answer on a daily basis. Most of them are standard but occasionally we get the odd one that makes us ask “really?!”.
What’s the meaning of DSLR? – A very important question, second to . I wonder what Douglas Adams and his super computer would come up with if we asked? (For those of you who haven’t heard, read or seen you might want to move on).
Do I need a model release for this common pigeon I just photographed? – I’m not sure whether this person had already tried and failed to get this pigeons signature before asking this question (I like to imagine they had), but no, surprisingly you do not need a model release for a pigeon, or a squirrel, or a badger or any other woodland creature. On the subject of model releases though (we’re getting serious now) you do need one for every person in the shot if you want to sell commercially (for advertising rather than editorial). Cropping or Photoshopping their faces out doesn’t get you out of it. Even if its just someone’s hand, its still attached to their body, unless of course you’re photographing .
Can I donate my eggs to you*? – It’s safe to say this person was definitely in the wrong place and we declined her generous offer.

Do you know Adele*? – Someone asked us this very excitedly in the hopes that, because we’re English, we’d know her and be able to introduce her to them. Now if I was BFFs with Adele, I’m not sure I’d be sat here writing this blog. Sorry to disappoint everyone who was hoping to meet her, but you’ll have to get in line, behind me.
