Celebrating still life photography

Still life photography is not about taking images, it’s about creating images. The art form allows the photographer to have full control over every single detail in the image frame and has therefore always been a very powerful tool of visual communication.

The still life image has been around since the beginning of art itself, but instead of going out of fashion it has thrived with the development of technology, and in a way re-invented itself again and again. In a digital age where we are faced with laptops, tablets and smart phones a certain physical experience has been taken away from us when viewing imagery. Perhaps this is why we’re so attracted to these strong and almost sensory still life images?

Let’s take a moment to celebrate the still life photograph in all its forms and shapes.
